Scope
The scope of works for this fit-out was a complete redesign and relocation of staff amenities, training rooms, meeting rooms and gaming rooms. We had eight weeks to complete the entire project. The challenge in this job was to keep Australia Post operating with no loss of productivity. Australia Post’s head mailing centre work 24/7 – nothing stops the post from being delivered. Lightspeed Electrical cleverly devised a system that would keep both Australia post and BTF Projects from losing any down time.
Starting with the strip-out and installation of cabling of stage one, Lightspeed began the process of running all new data, power and lighting cables, making sure everything was done to the highest of standards.
The client was making several changes on a daily basis throughout the process, meaning we often had to reset and re-adjust with the new requests made. However, as one of the most dynamic and reliable electrical contractors in Sydney, we faced these challenges head-on and adapted quickly.
Next was the installation of a monitored emergency lighting system, architecturally designed pendent lighting and feature lighting. The lighting for this project was highly intricate, time consuming and had to be meticulously installed. Lightspeed Electrical’s professionalism shone through with the installation of all products.
Stage two was upon us, beginning with the strip-out of the old kitchen. There was only a 12-hour window for us to isolate and make safe for the next morning’s team, of twelve demolition crew to pull down and strip out all the necessary walls and ceiling.
This meant we had to be very thorough as circuits were coming from all directions, and electrical safety is paramount – particularly in demolition. With our approach we had to systemically identify every cable being used and every cable to strip out all while ensuring not to disrupt any Australia Post staff.
The goal was achieved by morning, just as the first demolition team member turned up to start his shift. The demolition crew did what they do best, and there were no problems from our end which was reassuring.
Stage two seemed to run a similar way as stage one, with changes all the way through – It was the nature of this job. We were still getting calls to make changes and minor adjustments. We installed all the electrical services that were needed such as data outlets, power points, recessed floor boxes, automated control wiring, emergency lighting and, of course, the intricate lighting.
Lightspeed Electrical followed their systems which lead to a great result. Both the client and the contractor could not have been happier. Our team worked around the clock on this project and their efforts did not go unnoticed. They pulled the proverbial rabbit out of the hat all while executing high quality craftsmanship.
