Lightspeed Electrical carried out this installation alongside Gapcomm projects for Defence Australia.
We installed all the required power and lighting throughout the space, ensuring every connection met both functional and safety standards. In addition to the physical installation, we also designed complete 3D renders of the layout, providing a clear visual representation of the entire setup. These renders allowed us to accurately plan and balance the lighting levels, ensuring the finished space would be both practical for daily use and visually aligned with the Defence Australia’s expectations.
In total, we installed over 100 LED panel lights throughout the office spaces, providing bright, efficient illumination that complements the modern working environment. For the open cathedral ceilings, we supplied and installed architecturally designed and custom-manufactured linear LEDs, adding a striking design element while ensuring consistent, balanced lighting across the large, open areas for Defence Australia.
Beyond lighting, we also completed all power requirements for 50+ new workstations, making sure every desk was fully equipped with reliable access to power for day-to-day operations. The scope also included powering a newly built kitchen and providing updated electrical systems for the updated bathrooms, bringing the entire facility up to a professional, high-performance standard.
The result was a bright, airy, modern space that Defence Australia can be proud of—and one that will help them attract and retain top talent.
The Challenge: An Outdated Warehouse in Desperate Need of an Upgrade
When Defence Australia approached Lightspeed Electrical about renovating an old warehouse, they knew they needed more than just a basic power and lighting upgrade. This wasn’t just about installing new cables or swapping out fixtures—the goal was to completely transform the space into a bright, modern space that would appeal to today’s workforce and meet the demands of a contemporary workplace.
But before that vision could come to life, the project faced Major challenges. The existing electrical infrastructure was outdated, and the layout of the warehouse wasn’t suited to modern commercial requirements. It was clear that a complete rethink was needed—not only to bring the space up to current standards but to deliver a fit-out that would serve Defence Australia’s needs well into the future.
Our Solution: A Bright, Airy Workspace That’s Ready for the Future
We started by installing LED panel lights in the office area, which immediately brightened up the space and helped cut down on energy costs. These panels provided consistent, glare-free lighting that made the workspace more comfortable for everyday use. To complement this, we also added linear LEDs throughout the open cathedral ceilings, introducing ambient light that enhanced the architectural features of the space without washing out the room. The combination of functional and ambient lighting created a balanced, welcoming atmosphere ideal for a modern work environment.
This gave employees a much more comfortable and functional workspace that would make them want to come to work every day.
